World of Warcraft players have officially discovered the method to unlock the elusive "A Most Violent Loa" achievement in Midnight: kill 100 capybaras. This particularly evil accolade may not be required for any World of Warcraft: Midnight meta achievements, but completionists will have to do this dark deed if they want to accomplish everything in the expansion.

The Zul'Aman zone in WoW: Midnight explores the belief systems of the Amani Trolls by going deeper into their gods, the Loa. This included the introduction of several lesser Loa, ranging from Dundun, the rat Loa of Abundance, to Kulzi, the pangolin Loa of Medicine. That said, one of the most popular new Loa was Filo, the capybara Loa of Childhood. This stoic being looks out for kids, both living and deceased, and is involved in one of the most heart-wrenching sidequests in Midnight.

How to Get "A Most Violent Loa" Achievement in WoW: Midnight

However, Filo is also associated with a secret achievement whose unlock conditions would make even the Dark Urge from Baldur's Gate 3 hesitate. To earn the "A Most Violent Loa" achievement, one must "Experience the rage of Filo, Loa of Childhood." As reported by Wowhead, fans discovered the achievement was earned by killing 100 Kapara around Zul'Aman. These docile capybara-like creatures are not hostile, but can be killed - and once a character has slain enough, they earn the achievement and the wrath of Filo, who appears with 12 million hit points and a powerful buff to claim vengeance for his fallen brethren.

* Slay 100 Kapara of any kind throughout Zul'Aman.

* After 100 kills, the "A Most Violent Loa" achievement is unlocked, and Filo will appear for 1 minute and attack the character until they are slain.

Figuring out how to unlock this achievement was quite the journey. Indeed, World of Warcraft: Midnight released on March 2, about seven weeks before this unlock method was fully discovered. In the meantime, fans attempted to earn Filo's ire through many means, including killing Kapara in front of the docile Filo NPC near his shrine, making /rude gestures to Kapara or Troll child NPCs in Zul'Aman, or using the Experimental Anima Cell toy to become a child and die in front of the Loa.

Luckily, this achievement is completely optional and is not currently required for any meta achievements in Midnight, such as "Light Up the Night." That said, completionists who wish to earn every achievement in World of Warcraft will have to give in to their dark side.

There are plenty of challenging achievements that are required for the "Light Up the Night" meta achievement, including "Treasures of Harandar" and "Altar of Blessings: Sacred Buffet Devotee." While several of these World of Warcraft achievements involve a grind, few will make one contemplate their life choices as much as "A Most Violent Loa."
