Aims to reduce ER wait times and expand local health care access

A new urgent care facility is now open in New Orleans East, offering residents expanded access to non-emergency medical services aimed at reducing emergency room wait times and improving local health care availability.

The Complete Care Urgent Center, founded by General Surgeon Dr. Calvin Williams and Allergist Dr. Cheryl Williams, officially opened April 18 at 8030 Crowder Blvd., Suite A, according to a company announcement.

The clinic is designed to treat non-life-threatening conditions such as upper respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, ear infections, minor wounds, and other common illnesses. It also provides on-site testing for flu, strep throat, COVID-19 and RSV.

Dr. Calvin Williams said the goal is to improve access to timely care for residents in the area.

"Our mission is to ensure that families in New Orleans East have access to timely and reliable health care without the burden of long emergency room wait times," Williams said. "This urgent care center is about meeting the needs of our community with excellence and compassion."

The facility is staffed by physicians, including a general surgeon and allergist, along with nurse practitioners. It accepts all insurance plans and offers cash-pay options for patients without coverage.

Dr. Cheryl Williams said the clinic addresses a long-standing gap in local health care access.

"Most residents in New Orleans East have to leave the neighborhood to find an urgent care," she said. "We wanted to change that by bringing quality, timely, and convenient care right here to the area."

Local and federal representatives, including state Sen. Sidney Barthelemy, District E Councilman Jason Hughes, and representatives from the offices of U.S. Rep. Troy A. Carter and New Orleans City Council leadership, were confirmed guests at the opening event.

The opening adds to a growing trend of neighborhood-based urgent care clinics designed to relieve pressure on hospital emergency departments while providing more accessible care for routine medical needs.
